The gleam of gold and silver encrusted
with precious stones polished to perfection shines through this
collection of 675 pieces. They are material witnesses to Bahia's
lifestyle in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, up until the
early twentieth century. Most belonged to the families of Bahia's
sugar barons.
The highlight of this collection is
the Creole jewelry, once worn by black women - a unique chapter
in our history.
Made in the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries, their lavishness sets them apart from the jewelry worn
by white women.
