Visitors are always intrigued by
the Museu Carlos Costa Pinto's furnishings collection. It includes
130 pieces dating from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries.
Mostly made from Brazilian rosewood in Bahia, they once belonged
to prominent local families. They include chests, tables, oratories,
chests of drawers, desks, sofas, side tables or consoles, chaise-lounges,
beds, cradles, counters, mirrors, vanity tables, display cases,
sewing boxes and a variety of chairs, especially the "tête-à-tête"
or courting chairs.
